Deve ser realizada após uma avaliação clínica rigorosa e a sua utilização promove uma aceleração do tempo de cicatrização, com consequente diminuição dos custos de tratamento, diminuição do tempo de retorno dos pacientes às suas atividades habituais, diminuição dos níveis de uma possível amputação e melhora da qualidade de vida, o que habilita o seu emprego em lesões refratárias ao tratamento clínico usual.
